Jeff Mortimer

I have been working as a mastering engineer since 2001 when I joined the ranks of the now defunct Ideal Mastering. It was right after I had finished studying at the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) in London. Although I had no real experience in mastering I was brought in to fill the gap of ‘2nd engineer’ as the head engineer was due to leave…..but after 6 months I found myself in the rather strange position of being the only and therefore head mastering engineer! It was an intense time of learning, learning and more learning! But learn I did and was able to get invaluable experience and during my time there.

When Ideal Mastering closed it’s doors to the public in August 2008 I bought the mastering suite from the owner and opened JM Mastering on the 1st September 2008 and moved from Holloway Road to the studio complex in Hornsey. I was there for 14 years and loved it! At the end of 2022 I decided it was time for me to move my studio home – but don’t worry it still sounds great!
